Heuer "Autavia" chronograph [ca. 1984]

  • Movement: automatic Heuer calibre-12 micro-rotor chronograph with cam-and-lever switching.
  • Case: case ref# 11063V, stainless-steel, ~43mm Ø.
  • The 11063 is the last evolution of Heuer's iconic "Chrono-Matic" Autavia design before being discontinued in the mid '80s; at 43mm in diameter, 15mm in thickness, having 21mm lug-width, and a very beefy bezel the 11063 is easily the most substantial and massive Autavia design.
  • The easiest way to discern the 11063 from it's predecessor, the 11630, is by the bezel; the later Autavia's bezel is much thicker vertically and has very deeply machined grooves -- click here to see a comparison -- although if you have both examples side-by-side for comparison, the differences are quite obvious in both appearance and heft.
  • Heuer offered 11063s as conventional Autavias, PVD-coated "military" variants, GMT variants, and scuba-diving variants -- click here to see examples -- and these can include V, P, or MH appended to the case-reference number engraved between the lower lugs.
  • In addition, Heuer used 11063-style cases for nautically themed relatives of the Autavia: the calibre-15 powered "Skipper" and the Lemania 1345-powered "Regatta" -- click here to see examples.
