SOLD: Fabulous Eterna Pininfarina Diver, rare smooth-dial variant, NM+
on offer is the fantastic Eterna Pininfarina dive watch, featuring the timeless design elements as created by the legendary Pininfarina design group (the same Pininfarina design associated with ferrari). this particular design was created in the mid '90s shortly before Eterna was acquired by Porsche Design (pininfarina's, ahem, competition). a truly innovative take on the classic "dive watch" look with smoothly contoured lines, but still maintaining that "dive watch" look. overall condition is stunning, and i conservatively rate this watch as NM+.
- rugged stainless steel case is a brilliantly polished, with classic 39mm x 14mm proportions, and rated to 500M water-resistance. caseback features some tasteful special edition inscriptions including the unique serial # (A3## - the number is intact, but blurred for security purposes). case condition is fantastic with only the faintest of scuffing on the caseback from very gentle, occasional wear.
- i'd also like to highlight that this is an incredibly rare variant, featuring a smooth finished dial. 99.9% of the Eterna Pininfarina divers and chronographs and sport variants that i have seen in 10+ years of collecting have a clous de paris dial texture - that textured finish is interesting, but not something i'd want or expect on a diver. this is the ONLY example i've yet to see featuring a smooth finished, inky black dial that absolutely disappears before your eyes - as if you're looking into a black hole. look at the high-res pictures and there's no glare or anything - who needs an anti-reflective coating when you can execute a stunning dial like this? simply sublime. sapphire crystal is flawless.
- the heavy oyster bracelet is also in fantastic condition with essentially no evidence of wear. fitted with a butterfly-deployant clasp and also features half-links to allow subtle sizing adjustments. all original links are included.
- includes original Eterna signed box-set. in addition, this watch includes the special Eternal/Pininfarina special edition paperwork with matching serial#.
