SOLD: Archimede Pilot Original LE, Junghans 687 handwound, NM

on offer is an exquisite piece from my personal collection:  the very rare Archimede Pilot Original Ltd Ed.

this was a very limited production run of 90 pieces conceived to be a modern interpretation of the classic beobachtungsuhr from WW2.  a couple years ago, the folks at archimede came upon a box of NOS vintage Junghans 687 handwound movements, which seemed like the perfect motor upon which to base a historical tribute watch such as this.  the archimede artisan watchmakers painstakingly serviced these movements and fitted them to the classic archimede pilot cases design.

to make it even more special, each example is fitted with an individually numbered caseback, evidence of its place in this very limited run of watches.  this example is #88, this number i requested specifically because of the legendary Junkers JU-88 bomber which undoubtedly had crew that wore the original B-uhr.

this example is in NM+ condition...absolutely pristine.  the movement is running strong and keeps fabulous time.  to make this example even more true to the original, i had my watchmaker replace the uninspiring flat crystal with a tastefully domed crystal.  along with the spartan dial and blued hands and flieger-crown, this example really captures the essence of the original B-uhr.  in addition, i fitted a protective polymer sheild to the caseback to protect the inscriptions (it's a special material used by the US Army to protect the blades on their helicopters from wear-and-tear -- durable stuff!)
